Transition Programme : Mana Taiohi | 2020

Do you reside in Wainuiomata?

Is your tamaiti (child) Maori and currently in Year 7 attending Wainuiomata Intermediate or Pukeatua Primary School?

Do you intend for your tamaiti to attend Wainuiomata High School in 2020?

Then we have a programme that will help tamariki and their whānau to successfully transition from intermediate to high school.

A 2020 PERSPECTIVE

Mana Taiohi believes that whānau are learners, teachers and most importantly achievers.

Taiohi (teenagers) tell us that the transition from intermediate is often difficult to navigate and they would appreciate support to transition.

Your tamaiti is at the pinnacle of their schooling years. The Mana Taiohi programme looks at bridging gaps through creating relationships between whānau, schools, teachers and peers offering one-on-one support throughout this journey.

Mana Taiohi is based on the following four pou:

⇒ Whanaungatanga

Building & maintaining relationships within whānau and with the schools

⇒ Ako

Providing enhanced learning & education for taiohi who may require it

⇒ Hauora

Providing a holistic approach towards health & wellbeing to support achievement and an increased access to resources

⇒ Tūrangawaewae

Empowering whānau to stand strong, creating opportunities to reconnect with their cultural identity.

We understand that sometimes whānau are not aware of the complexities in the transition process creating many uncertainties along the way. We can help make this easier for you and your tamaiti.

We provide a Whānau Ora wrap around service for all whānau and tamariki who enrol in this programme.

If this is a kaupapa you would like to participate in we encourage you to contact the Whānau Ora facilitators to explore your options.
